Look out! There’s a whole lotta Looney goin’ on! The DC Universe is being invaded by the Looney-verse! As in Looney Tunes, the animated collective of Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Tweety & Sylvester, and the Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote (“Super Genius”), among many others. And this time, they’re not just taking over the covers… they’re teaming up with the heroes in six 48-page specials on sale in June. Here’s the scoop, you nin-cow-poops!

Batman/Elmer Fudd Special #1

Batman/Elmer Fudd Special #1

BATMAN/ELMER FUDD SPECIAL #1

written by Tom King, art and cover by Lee Weeks

backup story written by King with art by Byron Vaughns

After a chance meeting in upper class society with billionaire Bruce Wayne, Elmer Fudd becomes obsessed with the Batman, stalking him throughout both dark alleys and the society pages. Be vewy, vewy quiet — Elmer’s hunting Bats! Roger says: Of course, Elmer would hang out with millionaires. It’s well established that he does own a mansion and a yacht!

Jonah Hex/Yosemite Sam Special #1

Jonah Hex/Yosemite Sam Special #1

JONAH HEX/YOSEMITE SAM SPECIAL #1

written by Jimmy Palmiotti, art and cover by Mark Texeira

backup story written by Bill Matheny with art by Dave Alvarez

Miner Forty-Niner Yosemite Sam finally strikes it rich, and suddenly everybody’s gunning for him! So he hires bounty hunter Jonah Hex to protect him. That might actually be a mistake… Ooooh, that rackin’ frackin’…

Legion Of Super-Heroes/Bugs Bunny Special #1

Legion Of Super-Heroes/Bugs Bunny Special #1

LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES/BUGS BUNNY SPECIAL #1

written by Sam Humphries, art by Tom Grummett and Scott Hanna

backup story written and drawn by Juan Ortiz

Among the favorite Legion stories for most LSH fans is the one where the Legion brings their hero and inspiration Superboy from the 21st century to their time for the first time. Well, what if something got screwed up, and they actually grabbed up a long-eared, fuzzy, carrot-chomping, every-bunny instead? Will he be called Bunny Boy? Are there carrots 1,000 years in the future? Elmer Fudds? (Now that would be odd…)

Lobo/Road Runner Special #1

Lobo/Road Runner Special #1

LOBO/ROAD RUNNER SPECIAL #1

written by Bill Morrison, art and cover by Kelley Jones

backup story written and drawn by Morrison

Wile E. Coyote travels into space to hire Lobo to hunt down and kill the Road Runner. What’s simpler than that?! Nothing I can say here will top the images in my head of the wanton destruction that will appear in this comic book. Oh, please let there be anvils!!! Thousands and thousands of anvils!

Martian Manhunter/Marvin The Martian Special #1

Martian Manhunter/Marvin The Martian Special #1

MARTIAN MANHUNTER/MARVIN THE MARTIAN SPECIAL #1

written by Steve Orlando and Frank Barbere, art by Aaron Lopresti and Jerome N. Moore, cover by Lopresti

backup story written by Jim Fanning, with art by John Loter

Cool… Marvin gets his own special! While attempting to halt Marvin’s goal of planetary domination, J’onn is conflicted with his own Martian identity. No really… that’s what it actually says here. When I’m done face-palming, hopefully someday there will be a Martian Manhunter story where he isn’t conflicted by something. Great Rao! He can’t even order a sandwich without some inner conflict! Is this team-up all about finding somebody more neurotic than Marvin…?

Wonder Woman/Tazmanian Devil Special #1

Wonder Woman/Tazmanian Devil Special #1

WONDER WOMAN/TAZMANIAN DEVIL SPECIAL #1

written by Tony Bedard, art by Barry Kitson, cover by Jim Lee

backup story and art by Ben Caldwell

Not much plot info available for this one. One presumes that the two of them will fight. Hey, remember that Bugs Bunny/Taz cartoon where they got married at the end? They wouldn’t do that here, would they…? Would they?

MORE LOONEY MORE LOONEY MORE LOONEY

DC/Looney Tunes 100-Page Super Spectacular #1

DC/Looney Tunes 100-Page Super Spectacular #1

Also in June, some classic DC Comics/Looney Tunes team-ups are being collected in a new printing. All four issues of Superman/Bugs Bunny from 2000 will appear in a new 96-page comic called DC/Looney Tunes 100-Page Super Spectacular #1. (They count the covers to get to 100, according to the Carlson Bureau of Comic Book Honesty.) And that’s not the only team-up in the story: Mr. Mxyzptlk and the Do-Do (from Porky in Wackyland, for you animation buffs!) are causing the Looney characters to appear in the DC Universe and only Superman — and a certain wascally wabbit! — can straighten everything out. Written by Mark Evanier, with art by Joe Staton, Mike DeCarlo, and Tom Palmer and a cover by Steve Rude.

Remember: Don’t go crazy until June! Then you can go Looney!
